Currently Religious Education is delivered throughout the school by class teachers. It is taught in accordance with the Locally Agreed Syllabus. Penn Hall is a non-denominational school with a Christian ethos.
Aims And Objectives
To learn about and from religion. Children will explore a range of themes and explore the similarities and differences between major world faiths. It gives pupils the opportunities to think about big issues and how faith helps people deal with them.
Community and belonging, Creation stories, Festivals, faith studies.
Key Stages 1
Delivered by class teachers as part of a topic based curriculum. Children will explore the idea of belonging and communities. They will explore the different groups they belong to. Pupils will learn about and celebrate religious festivals during the year. The main focus is on Christianity with the introduction of one other world religion.
Key Stage 2
Religious Education is delivered by class teachers. Pupils will listen to and learn from stories from the bible and other religious texts. They will learn about religious festivals throughout the year. The main focus is on Christianity with the introduction of one other world religion.
Key Stage 3
Delivered by class teachers. Pupils will explore what God means to them and why faith is important to people. They will learn about religious festivals as they happen during the year. The focus will be on Christianity and will build on KS1 and 2 by introducing at least one other world religion.
Key Stage 4
Religious Education is delivered by class teachers and pupils will learn about religious festivals. They will also be encouraged to explore current issues and express their opinions whilst considering those of others.
Religious Education is delivered by class teachers. There are also visiting speakers from a local church. Pupils learn a background of major world faiths and look at festivals celebrated by each, focusing on the reason for celebrations, for example, festivals of light, New Year celebrations and Rites of Passage.
