Penn Hall - Kielder Challenge Winners 2006
Penn Hall School maintained its strong tradition in the Kielder Challenge by winning this nationally prestigious competition for the third time in five years. Winners in 2002, 2003 and runners up in 2004, this years team followed a strong performance in the regional heats in May with a fantastic effort to win this years final.
The team this year was made up from pupils from four Wolverhampton Schools: Visit sports-on-wheels.com for further information
This win was even more impressive given that the competition has grown so much in recent years. Nearly 1700 students from over 280 teams took part in 90 heats across the whole of the UK. The top 12 teams are invited to attend the finals which are held in the beautiful setting of the Kielder Forest in Northumberland.
The competition involves undertaking a series of complex problem solving challenges in a woodland environment with a mixture of physical and intellectual skills being needed.
The teams are carefully assessed on their ability to use the strengths of all team members, their initiative and integration, planning and evaluative abilities as well as their overall performance of the tasks.

Organised by the Fieldfare Trust

This years team, led and co-ordinated by Mr Stuart Morgan, undertook a series of training events, that helped build the students into a formidable team. The celebrations since their return have barely subsided and the bonds between team members remain as strong as ever.
