The Outdoor Classroom
The Woodland Trail
At Penn Hall School we believe that every young person should experience
the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal
development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances. The opening of
our Adventurous and Creative Activity Trail on 1 May 2007 enables us to
provide all our young people with a wider range of experiences outside the
classroom.
As well as adventurous and sporting activities that include a specially adapted
zip wire, abseil slope, problem solving areas and orienteering trails the school
takes direction from the Forest School philosophy:

‘Forest School is an inspirational process that offers children and young
people regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence through
hands on learning in a woodland environment.’
Children are offered activities that may include:
| Den Building | Digging | Pond Dipping |
| Knots and rope work | Quiet and Reflection | Mud painting |
| Collage | Cooking | Flora and Fauna ID |
