Assessment and Accreditation

Studio OpeningAssessment is an important tool used by the staff at Penn Hall to clarify what a pupil is doing, describe what a pupil has achieved and indicates the ‘next steps’ and targets for the future.  To show progress within and across the ‘P’ scales and National Curriculum we have adopted the Bsquared  Recording and Profile System.  Alongside our Local Authority partners, the school uses the CASPA recording system to compare individual and group progress using National data trends.

National Assessment

Assessment takes place through the National Curriculum, use of ‘P’ scales, and individual assessment.  Where appropriate these assessments are validated through Key Stage Tests (SATs) and Nationally Accredited examination routes

Individual Education Plan (IEP)

The curriculum at Penn Hall School is reflected and recorded in an Invididual Education Plan. Pupil’s achievements and experiences, both in and out of school, are rewarded and celebrated. Within the Annual Review Framework, annual goals are discussed and evaluated with parents, pupils and staff. These annual goals are interpreted in the IEP and used to inform termly targets that are set at face to face meetings between parents and staff, once a term. Pupil’s progress is evidenced in a wide variety of ways including video, photography, written statements and also DVD and CD presentations.
