Aims and Philosophies
Penn
Hall School aims to make each day an enjoyable and challenging experience
for all pupils and actively supports the principles of 'Access
for all' and 'Every Child Matters'. In addition to teaching
the National Curriculum, it also offers a wide range of activities that aims
to build confidence, self reliance and develop the necessary skills that
will enable children to make decisions that reflect their feelings and personality.
The school recognises the work which is still required to enable people
with disabilities to be fully accepted in society. It hopes to give each
pupil the skills to make the changes which will bring this about and above
all enable him/her to live with dignity in the way he/she chooses.
At Penn Hall, we aim to:

a rich, stimulating and successful environment in which children and young
adults have the opportunity to flourish and develop
present
a policy of equal opportunities with regard to all educational, care
and therapy programmes so that pupils are able to realise their own
potential

each child for their next stage in life
help
each child to progress from the security of intimate care in the
early years to as great a degree of independence as possible, within
the limits of their physical capabilities and needs
teach
each child to recognise and respect the needs and differences of
others, developing tolerance and understanding so that they may integrate
harmoniously in a multi-cultural society
develop
confident and happy pupils who are able to make their own decisions,
contribute to their own development and make informed choices about
their own life
involve
and help parents in the education, development and care of their
child
develop
a committed and fully participative teaching and support team capable
of delivering the requisite quality and level of teaching, care and
therapy
